There have been many volumes written about Luger, and all we can do is give you a brief description here. Dimensions are for the 1908 model pistol with a 4" barrel. The Luger pistol is the outcome of designs of Hugo Borchardt of Connecticut and Georg Luger of Germany. Disinterested U.S. arms makers caused the ideas of Borchardt to be implemented in Germany where the Luger was to become the world's most famous pistol. The pistol has undergone many modications in the 70 years since its original introduction. Both .30 Lugar (7.65mm) and 9mm calibers use the same magazine. Countries which used the Lugar as a standard service pistol include Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Holland, Iran, Luxembourg, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Rumania, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey. The name Luger was given to the pistol by F.A. Stoeger Co., the U.S. importers. In most of the world it is known as the Parabellum.
