Designed to accomodate the .45 caliber cartridge as desired by the military, this model was made from 1905 to 1910. Approximately 6,000 were manufactured but never received government acceptance. The only safety device on the basic model was a floating firing pin. Samples were submitted with and without lanyard loop, stub and spur hammer, with and without grip safety, and with and without cartridge indicator. Some were cut for a combination shoulder stock and holster, now rare collector's items.
